Sharon Zwonechek Barry, 86, of Huntington Beach, California, passed away on January 2, 2022 at home.
Sharon was born in Manila, Philippines to Otto and Catherine Zwonechek on September 5, 1935. She and her family left for the United States in 1938, returning to the Philippines after World War II, where she graduated from high school at the American School. She later attended Mills College in Oakland, California. While there, she met her husband Tom, who was attending UC Berkeley. They married in 1956 and they had 65 memorable years together. Sharon was passionate about everything she undertook, especially Girl Scouts (60 years of dedication), the Red Hat Society, the Green Hat Society, and collecting plush bears – lots and lots of bears. She was very proud of the many awards she received from the Girl Scouts over the years.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Tom, of Huntington Beach. She is also survived by her sons: Alan (Maggie), Tom (Tracie) and Mike (Pam), and her daughter, Ann; grandchildren: Christina (Andrew), Katie, Tommy, Jason, Connor, Derrick, and Elaine (Greg); and great-grandchildren: Mekenzie, Addison, Brandon, Hailey, and Alyssa.
