Javier - Mendez

Javier Mendez known to family and friends as "Harvey" passed away on July 24, 2019 at the age of 52, in the comfort of his home in Santa Ana, CA surrounded by family and friends after a tough battle with Dermatomyositis. Deeply loved by family & friends he is survived by his wife of 33 years, Gina Mendez; his daughters Charlene Zelaya (John), Veronica Gutierrez (Jose); son Javier Mendez Jr. "JJ"; grandchildren Gabriel Talamantes, Aden & Evan Zelaya; and sisters Irene Mendez & Alicia Guerra (Francisco). Born in National City, California to Rosario M. and Daniel P. Mendez in 1967, he was a professional upholsterer by trade and mastered many other handyman skills that he used daily. Harvey's, "Anything could be done with the right tool," attitude made an impact to those around him. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, friendliness and strong work ethic. His hobbies included auto repairing, home improvement projects and bicycle restorations. Services will be held at Heritage-Dilday Memorial Services in Huntington Beach, CA.
